Thanks to a tremendously innovative relationship with the venerable Philadelphia Ballet (formerly Pennsylvania Ballet), the Performance Garage was able to serve as the Ballet’s rehearsal and filming home from January 2021 until the present. Consistent with all applicable regulations this partnership allowed both organizations to flourish, meet the aims of their respective missions, and keep art alive during the pandemic.

In a world defined by the ever-shifting demands of a pandemic, we have all been longing for a spark. A spark of connection, of dialogue, of togetherness. This moment in time has provided the dance community with an opportunity to reflect and redefine what it means to move throughout this new landscape.
Join us as we celebrate a significant step in our return to the stage with The Spark: a special, limited-run program featuring new collaborations that ignite the ineffable experience shared by performers and patrons. Set at the Performance Garage, an intimate 70 seat venue that has fostered and supported the Philadelphia arts community since its inception, this exclusive triple bill will feature two world premiere ballets—Artistic Director Angel Corella’s Landscaping the Mist, set to a minimalist score by Philip Glass, Other Half by choreographer Matthew Neenan completed by Rosie Langabeer’s irreverent score, as well as a remounting of Connection, Juliano Nunes’ 2019 world premiere for Philadelphia Ballet set to a primal score by Ezio Bosso. Experience a deeply meaningful program that is reflective of the time in which it has been created, and share in the spark of collective experience, community and strength.
Tickets are extremely limited, with only 70 seats available per performance. Reserve your seats today before they go on sale to our full audience.

Barbara Weisberger founded Philadelphia Ballet, formerly Pennsylvania Ballet, in 1963. It was her dream to not only bring the best in dance to Philadelphia but to find local talent and develop those artists into world-class performers.
With Angel Corella’s appointment as the new artistic director in 2014, the company moved into its next, exciting stage of development. Mr. Corella’s experience and accomplishments, both as a dancer and director of his own company in Spain, have helped the company embody the increasingly diverse and broadening landscape of dance.
The Performance Garage offers a brand-new experience for our patrons, where both dancers and audience members will be in very close proximity. This intimate venue with only 70 seats will highlight the electricity that exists between performer and patron—a unique and powerful thread that connects a room full of people who are experiencing something together. This is where we filmed our digital season, and we are excited to bring live audiences into this unique space.
After careful consideration and due to the intimate nature of the venue, we have implemented the following safety measures to promote the health and wellbeing of attendees, staff, production crew, and dancers:
All attendees must show proof of vaccination. We will not accept a negative Covid test for admittance.
All attendees must be over the age of 12.
All attendees must be masked at all times. The dancers will not be masked while performing.
Due to the size and nature of the venue, we will not be able to allow for social distancing. Guests will be sitting side by side.
The Performance Garage is located in a largely residential neighborhood and therefore parking in the area is extremely limited. We suggest using a rideshare or taxi service or taking the Broad Street Line to Spring Garden. Please click here for more information on getting to the Performance Garage.
