Variant 6 is a virtuosic vocal sextet that explores and advances the art of chamber music in the twenty-first century. The ensemble's work includes radically reimagining concert experiences, commissioning substantial new works, collaborating closely with other ensembles, and educating a new generation of singers. This year’s collaborators include post-rock percussion trio Square Peg Round Hole and Piffaro, the Renaissance Wind Band. In addition to touring to multiple universities across the country, Variant 6 will serve as the guest ensemble for Temple University’s Young Women’s Composer’s Camp. Variant 6's artists have performed with internationally recognized ensembles, including Roomful of Teeth, Bang on a Can, The Crossing, American Composers Orchestra, Seraphic Fire, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tempesta di Mare, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Philadelphia, and more.
Praised by the New York Times as “one of the small-scale delights of the New York Dance Scene,” New Chamber Ballet is dedicated to performing new ballets to contemporary chamber music in its pioneering up-close, in-the-round style. Since its inception in 2004, the company has premiered nearly one hundred ballets by founder Miro Magloire and selected guest choreographers. The company has been praised in the national and international press for its classic-modern esthetic and the top-notch musical artists who perform live at all performances. In addition to national and international touring, New Chamber Ballet continues to present its work in a bi-monthly series at Manhattan’s City Center’s Studios.

Vocal ensemble Variant 6 and New Chamber Ballet join forces for the world premiere of Munu Munu, a ballet with a cappella voices. Munu Munu combines the rhythmic, ritualistic music of Toby Twining and a selection of medieval music from as far back as the 1300’s. Variant 6 and New Chamber Ballet seek to connect these disparate eras through rarely heard performances of this music, and brand-new choreography. Artistic Director and Choreographer Miro Magloire returns to Philadelphia with his signature classical-modern aesthetic, pairing the movement of his dancers with the energy of Variant 6’s singing. Munu Munu will transform the Performance Garage as the dancers perform in the round, with singers and audience on all sides of the stage.
