Dancefusion’s fusion2 is a training company for young dancers formed in 1995 when Artistic Director Gwendolyn Bye recognized the need for dedicated young dancers to go beyond their technical training to experience movement and teamwork within the context of a semi-professional dance company. Through their participation in fusion2, upper level students from the Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center have unique opportunities to broaden their education in dance and leadership through rigorous technical training, performance and community outreach.
Elements of Life
Sunday, April 29, 2018
$25 General Admission
We are on the move! fusion2 is very excited to announce their home season performance, Elements of Life, on April 29th at the Performance Garage. Elements of Life is about the essential four elements: earth, air, fire, water and how they correlate to the physical, mental and spiritual realms. In their purest form, each of these elements work simultaneously as internal and external energetic forces, bringing forth life. Through the media of dance, art and poetry, we will demonstrate how the elements of life; unchanging in nature, are embraced and intricately bound together in the most profound choreographic interactions.
Featured on our program will be a collaborative piece with fusion2 dancers and performers from the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy. A new work choreographed by movement therapist Katie Bank will shed light on the creativity and beauty in those whose lives are impacted by illness, disabilities and other challenging circumstances. The collaborative piece includes student's artwork created with mentoring from Eiko Fan. The program will also feature fusion2 in works by Jim Bunting, Kathryn Schweingruber, Kingsley Ibeneche, Omar-Frederick Pratt and Gabrielle Wright.
