The Capital Project
We are thrilled to announce that we achieved our goal of raising $2.3M for both phases of our Capital Campaign, and that we are breaking ground on Phase Il renovations December 16, 2019.
Since reopening after the completion of Phase I of our Capital Campaign, we have welcomed over 63,000 people through our doors.
We look forward to the enhancements of our venue and how they will support the dancers who call the Performance Garage home.
Phase I Renovations
Updates and repairs were completed in the studio, theater, dressing room, lobby, and administrative offices.
Updates included:

HVAC system installed

Redesigned lobby and entryway

New sprung Marley dance floors

New carpeting throughout

Insulating windows and doors

Roof repairs

Painting throughout the first floor & offices

New cyclorama & performance lighting grid

New work lights, and more!
Phase II Renovations
Renovations to include:

Break through of lobby wall to connect the studio and theater

Four new bathrooms / two that are ADA compliant

Panic hardware on doors
-
Kitchenette with a filtered water fountain

Coat closet and storage for dancers' personal items
-
Three-story stairway to second and third floors
-
Plumbing and sprinklers for second and third floors
-
Pit for a future code-compliant elevator
-
Leveling of floor level between our two buildings
The Capital Project
Phase One of the Capital Project began on June 22, 2016 and was completed in November 2016. SHARP Dance Company's 16 Words was the the first production in our newly renovated Theater, and our space has been abuzz with dancers ever since!
The Performance Garage is grateful to the City of Philadelphia for the $500,000 grant provided through the Cultural Corridors Fund, as well as all of our donors who helped make Phase One possible.
We are also pleased that the State of PA awarded us a $1 million grant through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program for Phase Two renovations. We broke ground on December 16, 2019, and renovations were be completed Spring of 2020.
