Instructor Biography

Blanca Huertas-Agnew began her training in Puerto Rico at Ballet Contemporáneo. At an early age she became a member of Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico and performed classical repertoire such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Romeo & Juliet, Giselle, and Nutcracker. She joined Ballets de San Juan and as Principal Soloist and performed many George Balanchine choreographies such as Apollo, Who Cares?, Valse Fantasie, Rubies, Serenade, and Concerto Barocco in addition to the classical  repertoire.


Blanca is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 & Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Her students have been accepted to programs such as Paris Opera Summer School, Royal Ballet Summer School, American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive and Young Dancer Program, The Cuban Classical Summer Intensive at The School of Ballet Hispánico, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Program, The School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and Ellison Summer Intensive.


Her students have participated in the Youth American Grand Prix regional semi-finals with excellent reviews. She is a proponent of the health of a dancer in her training and is Certified in Progressing Ballet Technique in Junior, Senior, and Advanced levels. Blanca was the founder and Artistic Director of Pennsylvania Ballet Arts. Blanca also has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Temple University, concentration Risk Management & Insurance. She is currently completing her MFA in Choreography with a Latin America Residency at Jacksonville University and received the Howard Gilman Fellowship 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Training in classical ballet technique, this workshop will provide the opportunity for serious ballet students to work and maintain their technique before attending summer intensives locally or abroad. Students will receive a daily  technique class, followed by pointe class or Boy's/Men class work as applicable. In addition, supplemental exercises will be provided to keep the student healthy while attending rigorous schedules of standard summer intensives. Students must be at intermediate and advanced/pre-professional level.
